WithTV sizes increasing every year, it makes sense to get the JB Hi-Fi professionals in to install your new prized possession. All you need to do is open the door, point to where you want the TV placed, sit back with a cup of tea and let them get on with it. And in what must be a worldwide first for a tradesperson, they’ll even clean up once the job is complete. INSTALLATION DONE RIGHT
Do I need to worry about the installers hitting pipes or cables behind the wall? What if they do? No, the installers take all due care and use equipment to locate services before drilling. All installers are experienced and fully insured, so if there is an incident that even they could not avoid, you have peace of mind that this will be remedied. Will I need to help lift a 100-inch TV onto the bracket with the installer? No, we don’t allow customers to help. We make sure to send the right number of installers needed to lift and install the TV safely. So, you can sit back and relax.
What about the mess the installers make? Installers carry drop sheets, dustpans, and vacuums and will clean up after they have finished.
We spoke with Steve Mundt , home services manager in Queensland, to get the skinny on exactly what’s involved from the start to the finish.
your order. Be mindful of cable length as we often require a minimum of three metres of cable when concealing.
Can you please talk me through the process of organising a TV installation with JB Hi-Fi? It’s a very easy process. During the sale the customer will be offered installation either mounted on the wall, or set up on a cabinet. The team member will then qualify the installation location and recommend a suitable bracket based on TV size and functionality, such as fixed, tilt, or full motion. The team member will then book the installation so the customer can pick a suitable date while they’re still in the store. How soon after a sale can I expect an installation to be organised? We can usually install the next day in metro areas. What do I need to do to prepare for an installation? Ensure a safe and clear access route from curb to the room where the TV is being installed. Also please have your Wi-Fi and streaming account passwords ready in advance.
I don’t want to be left with a massive box once the installation is finished. What do I do with it? TV Installations include package removal, so you don’t have to feed your recycling bin for months! We’ll take the packaging away unless you request to keep it.
What about concrete walls? Will they chase out the wall or use a conduit to hide the cables? We don’t chase out the wall, we will use suitable conduit/ducting to conceal the cables. How long will the installation take? It depends on how many TVs you’re getting installed! Could be about an hour for one TV and a bit longer if any extra TVs or soundbars are being installed.
What other installation services do JB Hi-Fi offer?
We can install soundbars, home appliances (dishwashers, washing machines, dryers (including stacking/wall mounting), fridges (including water connection and hinge swaps), IT services such as laptop/tablet/mobile phone setups, even robovacs!
Does it matter whether my walls are solid brick/ concrete or plasterboard? Installers carry suitable fixings to install on different types of walls. Can a plasterboard wall support a big 100-inchTV? Yes, provided the wall has a minimum of two studs within the brackets mounting location.
Will the installers hide my cables in the plasterboard wall? Yes. The team member will ask if you require cable hiding, then add the additional charge to
