Things are hotting up with the soundtrack to one of 2026’s coolest shows. SLAPSHOT!

I f you’ve seen the Canadian TV series Heated Rivalry , you’ll know that it’s the hottest show on ice. The spicy series – which can be seen on HBO Max in Australia - tells the tale of a secret romance between two rival ice hockey stars: Shane, who plays for the Montreal Metros, and Ilya, who represents the Boston Raiders.

And just like Stranger Things, Heated Rivalry has a sparkling soundtrack. As well as the original score, composed by Canadian musician Peter Peter (real name: Peter Roy), the CD and vinyl release features a killer collection of pop tunes, including Wet Leg’s Mangetout , Wolf Parade’s I’ll Believe in Anything , Feist’s My Moon My Man, and Baxter Dury’s Lips .

mon amour , Satine’s C’est toi, and La Bronze’s L’anarchie des jours heureux . Exposure in the series sent the songs soaring to the top of the streaming charts. Jeff Jenkins Heated Rivalry director Jacob Tierney wants to get Carly Rae Jepsen to do a song for the next series, while Miley Cyrus is also keen to do a song for the show. WHAT’S NEXT?

And there are two versions of t.A.T.u’s All the Things She Said – the original, which the Russian duo took to number one in Australia in 2003 - and a dance cover by UK producer Harrison. The soundtrack also features several French songs, including Dumas’ Une journée parfaite , Philippe B’s Chelsea

ORIGIN STORY

Heated Rivalry is based on the Game Changers books by Canadian author Rachel Reid, who says they “came from a place of me being angry at hockey culture and how clearly homophobic it was and is, and all the other things that made me really ashamed to be a hockey fan”.
