Revealed at last month’s Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, the new Galaxy Z Fold7 and flexible Galaxy Z Flip7 – plus the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE – are here! Let’s dive into what’s new. Words Scott Hocking S amsung’s next generation foldable phone range – the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 – brings slimmer designs, wider displays, smarter AI, and upgraded camera systems. The phones will also run the latest OS, Android 16, out of the box. Enter the fold and flip out over Samsung’s new foldable phone series
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Samsung’s popular and super compact flip phone format has also undergone some design tweaks and feature upgrades. Get ready for a slimmer phone than the Flip6, along with a larger 4.1” Flex Window cover screen and brighter 6.9” main display for better outdoor visibility. Plus, the FlexHinge design has also been upgraded for smoother folding. The Flip7 also offers increased power, boasting a 4300mAh battery compared to 4000mAh on the Flip6, providing up to 31 hours of video playback. The rear camera system comprises a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens, with AI enhancement tools, along with a 10MP selfie cam on the front. Also new for the Flip series is support for Samsung DeX, which enables a desktop-like experience when connected to external displays. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE Complementing the Z Flip7 is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, which the Galaxy community know as a “Fan Edition”, offering flagship-level features at a more affordable price. This is the first time the Galaxy Z Flip series is also available as an FE, and it shares many of the top-tier features of its pricier counterpart. Beside the price point, the main differences to the Flip7 include a slightly smaller main and cover screen at 6.7" and 3.4", respectively, a 4000mAh battery, more basic AI functionality, and 8GB RAM compared to the Flip7’s 12GB.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7
The flagship Galaxy Z Fold7 is Samsung’s thinnest, lightest, and most pocket-friendly Fold to date, measuring a mere 8.9mm folded and weighing in at 215g. While it boasts a slimmer profile, it’s still tough enough to cope with the accidental
knocks that come with everyday use, thanks to more durable Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the cover screen, and Advanced Armour Aluminium reinforcing both the frame and hinge. The Fold7 sports a wider 6.5” cover screen and a larger, more immersive 8” main display than its predecessor. Unfolding the main
