I can’t remember how old I was, but I was in Darwin with my family, and we were all practising and doing dance rehearsals for the Darwin Show. During the rehearsal, when we were doing some freestyling, some Michael Jackson came on, and I remember breaking it down. Later, after rehearsals, we went to a record store, and I bought Michael Jackson’s Dangerous on CD. As soon as we left the shops, I played it in the car on the way home. I was so excited. It was constantly on repeat after that while we were in Darwin. It was a pretty big deal to have a CD that was my own. Milingimbi and Maningrida are remote communities, so you can’t just pop down to the shop and buy a CD, so that’s what made this album really special.
